Dear God,

This morning the birds sang.  A cool, airy day that seemed like spring in the winter prompted the birds to sing.  How lovely were their voices as they flittered to and fro from one tree to another.

How sad it would be if birds could not sing!  They only sing because you have put a song inside them.  They sing their song over and over again.

How beautiful to hear a song here and another over there.  How wonderful to hear all the birds singing at the same time.  There is no dissonance, only melodies being offered to the world.

You have put a song within us too, O God.  You invite us to sing along with the birds and with others.  You ask us to sing because singing is praise.  It lifts the heart, mind, and soul and gives joy to every singer.

Gracious God,
thank you
for your song.
Thank you
for giving
the birds
a song
to sing
and us too.
Thank you
for the symphony
of sound
we can make
on your behalf.

Love, Andrea
