Dearest God,
Your people hurt. They hurt from war, senseless attacks, poverty, oppression, and injustice. So many bleed, O Lord. I used to pray for all those entrusted to help their own people, like government, business, and industry leaders. In my prayers I placed the responsibility square on their shoulders. But then you spoke to me and my prayers changed. Now I pray for all those who bleed and all those who can comfort the bleeding.
We are all responsible to aid those who bleed, aren't we, Lord. We can all assist someone who is down. Wherever we are with whatever we have, we can aid those who are hurting. Yes, it is the responsibility of leaders but it is our responsibility as well.
You call us children, your children and as father, you tell us to love one another. You do not place the responsibility on leaders alone; you ask all of us to take care of one another. As long as we expect others to do the job of tender care, not many will be helped. Show us the way, O Lord, show us the way.
Blessed Father,
thank you
for reminders
that we
are all family.
We are
to care
for one another.
Help us
to reach out,
to take hold,
and to bless
one another.
Thank you
for the
countless times
others' hands,
representing your own,
held us.
Love, Andrea
