Dear God,
This morning my devotional reading challenged me to reflect back upon times of close encounters with you, moments when you rescued me from the muddy deep, times when you saved me from faulty thinking, and extravagant happenings when you gave miracles, answers to prayer, and healings. You took me back to the early beginnings of tender faith and then whisked me through decades of events of your living presence changing and transforming. Suffice it to say, there have been thousands of amazing opportunities spent with you in blessed transformation.
How often do we need changing, O Lord? Every day we need change. When our thinking is spoiled by prejudice, jealousy, or bitterness, we need to alter our thoughts, beliefs, and convictions. When our behavior turns ugly, we need confession to rid our souls of darkness. When we turn away from helping our neighbor, reaching out to those in need, and giving to the poor in whatever way it manifests itself, we need a shaking up. Transformation is the only answer to our dilemma.
This Lenten morning you gave me the chance to give thanks and mean it.
Loving God,
thank you
for mercy
that turns us
toward you.
Thank you
for your
active hand
that changes us.
Thank you
for love
beneath it all.
Love, Andrea
