Dear God,

Today is a brand new day, a clean slate, one in which I can write the next 24 hours.  I can do anything, say anything, be anything today.  I get to decide.

What do I want on my blank slate?  Do I want a story of me?  Do I want to complain and moan about things for which I am angry?  Do I want to tell my side of anything?  Or do I want to pen something else?

This morning as I read my devotional readings, I realized the joy of beginning the day with you, reading your word from the Psalms and Jeremiah, the history of a hymn and singing it from Then Sings My Soul, from The Cloister Walk, and from the book entitled Prayer Seeds.  All these inspire me to think and reflect upon you and your way in the world.

I know I want something more on my slate than my own story.  I mean, really, why would I want to write just about me?  Nothing too exciting there.  I want to write about you, your grace, mercy, and guidance.  I want to lift up your name and give praise.  I want to celebrate the relationship you offer each and every one of us.  I want to talk about you!

Help me write
your story,
O Lord.
Guide my words
and actions today.
Make your story
my story,
I pray.

Love, Andrea
