Dear God,
"Brighten the corner where you are! Brighten the corner where you are! Someone far from harbor you may guide across the bar. Brighten the corner where you are!" I sang as part of my devotional reading from Then Sings My Soul this morning. I had to ask myself the question: Where do I brighten a corner of the world?
Your light shines best when a faith-filled soul radiates it. Your light is warm and embracing when faith expresses itself to others. Your light brightens corners when people carry your light to those who tarry too long in darkness.
It is always a joyful experience when your light shines upon us. We feel included, accepted, even cherished. That light turns into love and suddenly we feel a rising up in our soul. We feel a stirring courage and strength when our hopelessness turns to hope. And that is when we want to shine a light on others. We want to share it. We want to take hope to others. We want to warm the world with love.
Gracious God,
you brighten
our corners
every day.
We may
put up blinders
but your light
can break through
every barrier.
When your light
shines its rays,
we begin
to feel you
at work
in our lives.
We are blessed,
O Lord,
we are blessed
by your
glorious light.
Help us
shine our light
on others!
Love, Andrea
