Dear God,

The tulips have been missing for a couple of years.  Squirrels?  Skunks?  Woodchucks?  We've had them all.  A few weeks ago they popped up out of the ground.  Yesterday they opened up.

Sometimes we think things are hopeless.  We do not allow ourselves to believe anything can change.  And yet, they do...sometimes.  When I think of all the time we waste being hopeless about a particular situation, I realize all that time is lost, a waste really when we forfeit being hopeful, cheerful, and anticipatory.  We lack faith and trust.

What a joy it was to find those tulips rising up!  I was so happy.  My husband was even happier.  Today when I walked over to the wooden bench on the hill and saw the tulips standing tall in yellow and red today, I couldn't help but thank you for the "unexpected" surprise.

Blessed be your name,
Holy Lord.
Thank you
for returning
the beautiful tulips.
Thank you
for gentle reminders
to trust
and be glad.

Love, Andrea
