Dear God,

I sat in the Adirondack chair on the patio and watched as raindrops dripped down a long strand of a spider web.  Although there were several drops, the web held tight.  The night before the winds had blown, the rain came pouring down but the intricately-woven web had endured.  I must confess I watched and waited for the web to collapse, tear apart but it didn't.

That simple scene was yet another of your life lessons.  Connect your life to a firm foundation and you can weather any storm.  How many times have I thought my own flimsy connections would rip apart only to discover my rootedness in you held strong?

Too many times I have placed my roots in shallow soil only to find them tossed about by the first problem.  Every time that happened I realized shallow roots will never make it when trouble comes.  That is precisely the lesson you want us to learn.  When we dig deep and place our roots in you, we are assured of your abiding presence every day.

Thank you
for spider webs
and raindrops.
Thank you
for life lessons
that come unexpectedly.
Thank you
for faith
that is
a window
to your spirit.

Love, Andrea
