Dear God,

There are some days we simply do not want to lead a sinless life.  We want to wallow in our anger, jealousy, or poor attitudes.  We do not want to change.  Yet, in the depths of our hearts we want to be clean.  We want to wash away all that keeps our light from shining.  We want to be spotless, especially as we meet you in each new day.

Why are we obstinate, O Lord?  Why do we refuse to do what we know will bring us joy, hope, and peace?  Why do we go one minute carrying a sin when we know that to do so will bring us down in some way or another?

Only you can change a crabby heart, dear God.  Only you can break the solid wall of defiance.  Only you can love us mercifully into a submission of faith.  Only you can reconstitute the broken pieces of our lives.  Only you can restore, renew, and remake us.

God, so full of grace,
show us
the way
to peace.
Lead us
to the waters
of our baptism
where we surrendered
all our
selfish desires.
Shine your light
upon us
so we may
follow you home.

Love, Andrea
