Dear God,

You always set before us a vision of what can be.  You remind us our relationship is one of growth, truth, anticipation, presence, and love.  You hold us close and show us the path into the future.

When we grow lax, lazy, and indifferent, we fail to see what you want for us.  We forget whose heart beats for us.  We go along and one day our relationship seems to fizzle.  It no longer holds our attention or our desire.  It is then we realize we are blinded to any vision you have for us.

On the other hand when we are in love, when we walk together, when we feed our relationship, listen, and follow, we see what we could not see before.  Each time it seems like a miracle, a special favor, a great gift and it is.

Holy God,
thank you
for the relationship
you offer.
Thank you
for tending mercies
that keep us alive.
Show us
the way,
O God.
Give us feet
to walk
the pilgrim path.
May we
bless you
with love.
