Dear God,
There's something to be said for digging deeper. As I edged and dug up the area by the vegetable garden, I found a large piece of broken glass. As I held it in my hand I realized how easily it could have cut someone. Sometimes there are things hidden away that can hurt us.
If we don't dig deeper in the spiritual life, we allow those "dangerous" things to remain and cause us trouble. Pretending something is not present will not make it go away. Digging deep into the soul is a necessary task because it can help us rid ourselves of bad things. Hurts, sins, resentments, bitterness, and so much more can fester and grow dragging us down, robbing us of necessary helps, and destroying good.
When we dig deep, you go with us. You aid us in our endeavor. You encourage us to dig and discover. And when we find what is holding us back, you provide opportunity to rid ourselves of whatever it is that is at work within us. Then you assist us in healing.
Thank you,
Loving Father,
for journeying
with us.
Thank you
for your
living presence
that keeps us alive
in faith.
Thank you
for nudging us
to dig.
Love, Andrea
