Dear God,

Will we ever find our way toward love, peace, and unity in the world?  Will we ever discover within ourselves the strong center of God?  Will we ever want joy for others as much as we want joy for ourselves?

Living life in the world is not about what makes me happy.  If it is, what I have at the end of any day is nothing but happiness and happiness only.  Happiness is so surface, never going deep.  It never reaches the cellular level of the DNA.

Joy, on the other hand, is deep.  It feeds the soul, warms the heart, and enlightens the mind.  It increases faith, awakens gratitude, and spreads contagiously to others.  It changes things and people.  Knowing my joy can stir joy in others increases our capacity for joy and our desire to share it.  That kind of joy can lead us to love, peace, and unity because built in to each of us is a passion for the whole world to know the joy of God.  May it be so.

Gracious God,
our world
is desperate
for love,
peace, unity,
and joy.
Help us
not hoard joy
for ourselves.
Rather give us
the deep desire
to share
your joy
with others.

Love, Andrea
