Dear God,
I didn't expect there would be much wind to fly a kite at the beach. Yet, the moment the kite was unfurled, it began to tug hard, wanting to rise up and up and so I let it go, giving it string to go where it wanted to go. I watched for 30 minutes as it danced on the breeze, happily soaring in the gray, gray skies.
All the while I flew my kite, I thought of how that same wind tugs at us. It is always calling us to lift up, lift off from where we are grounded. Your spirit wants to take us higher allowing us to dance, fly, and soar. Even as I watched it, I smiled thinking of times when you inspired me to rise up. Those precious moments blessed me with memories of soaring with you. Oh, to be so anxious to fly higher in the spiritual life!
I am still amazed how simple things want to tell us about you. A kite has much to say about your spirit and its power to lift us up, giving us space to dance. It can encourage us, challenge us to think about how long we want to stay grounded and when we want to let go and go. Hum!
Loving God,
thank you
for the invitation
to fly.
Thank you
for gentle nudges
to move us
from where
we are
to where
you want us
to be.
It feels
so good
to fly,
to soar,
and to dance
with you!
Love, Andrea
