Dear God,

We always need to take a second look at events unfolding before us.  Otherwise, we will miss the hidden treasures, the great mysteries just beneath the surface.

A sunrise can simply be a marvelous sunrise, however beautiful.  A second look may provide insight into a display of your glory.  It can give us a picture of your sacred handiwork.  It can even offer a majestic work of grace that inspires us to joy and gratitude.  It can turn a sad day into a glad day when you are witnessed as a living presence in the world.

Oftentimes we settle for surface living.  Not that surface living is bad; however, there is so, so very much more.  We can unearth priceless gems that can change our mood, attitude, or perspective.  Such gems can give us hope, beauty, wisdom.  One gem can turn the tide in some perplexing situation or it can bless us with faith, the greatest gift of all.
