Dear God,
Reading a psalm a day is intended to restore the soul. Some days they easily make their way under my skin, around my heart, up to my head, down into my belly, and finally inward into my soul. Other days it just sits and goes nowhere.
You remind us to open our whole selves to you. When our eyes are open, we will see. When our ears are open, we will hear. When our minds are open, we will understand. When our hearts are open, we will love. When our souls are open, we will meet you.
The psalmist speaks our language. He talks about his struggles, his triumphs, and his challenges. He knows a living relationship is more than a "talk in the park." Yes, I mean a talk. His words are intended to dig deep. As we journey along the pilgrim way with the psalmist, we find restoration, renewal, and finally a good reconstruction.
Speak to us,
O Lord,
so that
the whole
of our selves
will take in
your message.
Thank you
for the psalmist
who is real
to the core.
Change us
as we
make our journeys
of faith,
I pray.
Love, Andrea
