Dear God,
There is no love deeper than yours, O Lord, none. When we consider the power and beauty of your grace, we recognize the quantity and quality of your agape love.
We may want others to love us like you but as humans they/we cannot. Perhaps that is what you intended that your love be greater than all others, that we gather together with you to experience the meaning of a profound love found nowhere else. As we sit at your feet and feel your embrace, we come to acknowledge the wonder of what it means to be made in your image. That love, your love is intrinsically connected to our DNA, so intimately that it is impossible to separate.
Sometimes we lose our own value. Sin has a way of robbing us of our worth. But also we listen to the voices in the world that stress how our value is tied to success, beauty, and status. If we don't have those, we are nothing so they say. We forget who made us, who loved us before one cell became two, and who remains with us every day.
At other times we are pompous believing we are of a greater value than you. We strut our stuff showing off our foolishness. We forget who can withdraw the oxygen from the atmosphere. It only takes one tiny stick from the proverbial pin to cause us to soar like a defunct balloon.
When we pause to reflect upon the relationship you have with us, we fall to our knees in praise, gratitude, and thanksgiving.
Thank you,
Great God,
for all
your many gifts
to us.
Thank you
most of all
for your love
and grace.
Thank you
for making us yours.
Love, Andrea
