Dear God,
Why bother to gather at church if we do not believe we will find you there waiting for us? Why sing songs, pray prayers, listen to scripture, offer one another signs of peace, and hear the word of God proclaimed? Worship is either authentic, meaningful, and holy or it is a lie.
Nothing and no one is greater than you, Most High God. You create, transform, guide, help, and comfort. You make yourself known through nature, relationships, and gentle murmurings. You speak all day long in one way or another.
We sell ourselves short when we let faith be just one more thing we have like friends, a job, favorite television shows and the like. If we pay more attention to a ball game than we do our faith, then we diminish our faith and all its attributes. We carry it like so many others things. We reduce the power of faith to change us.
Eternal God,
forgive us
when we
make faith small.
Forgive us
when we fail
to worship
believing we
will experience you.
Forgive us
when we
fail to walk
in faith.
Love, Andrea
