Dear God,

I am in awe of the beauty of summer.  The colors in my backyard, various shades of yellow, dusty rose, purple, pink, coral, white, orange, and gold, look like a canvas you painted.  I am drawn to you every time I look at them.

You created this world so we might reflect upon you.  When the flowers dance in the breeze, I say they are doing a happy dance for you.  When your spirit wind blows, everything dances.  Everything appears happy and content.

And what about us?  A couple days ago six hens came clucking into my yard as I sat and toiled in the dirt.  They came right over to me pecking for ticks, mosquitoes, and insects.  Just inches away I felt like singing them a song.  So I sang Old McDonald had a Farm.  I don't know whether they were impressed but it felt so natural to be so close to the earth, to the chickens, and to you.

Bless you, Lord,
for gifts
so sweet.
Thank you
for holy moments
in the dirt.
Thank you
for exquisite beauty
that shines
your light.

Love always, Andrea
