Dear God,

There is no better way to begin the new year than with you, Almighty God.  You hold the keys to life.  You point us in the right direction.  You guide us gently on the pilgrim path.

You held us all year long last year.  You let us walk with you in deep valleys, dark streets and distressed happenings.  You whispered mercy to us.  You fed us spiritual food and drink.  You blessed us in our sufferings.  You were with us when we were pleased to walk together and when we were not.  You were our constant companion.  We cannot even discuss the year 2017 without talking about you.

As we face this new year, be our lead, our guide, and our teacher.  Keep us on track.  Give us the vision from heaven, a kind of clarity that only comes from higher places.  Instill within us courage, hope, and determination.  At the same time quiet our souls, minds, and hearts and bless us with trust, real trust that is heaven made.  Remold us into the person you created us to be.  Then breathe into us the air of faith that in all things we may see you.
