Dear God,
Every hour on the hour the little snowman clock plays a Christmas tune. I watch as the hands go round to the next song. I love the clock but more than that I love the songs, secular and sacred.
For about four months this clock reminds me it is Christmas. In November I take it out of the Christmas box and place it on the wall until March or the first flowers peek their heads out of the snow. Every hour on the hour I am reminded Christ is born, not just long ago but today at this hour. I know it to be true because you have birthed yourself in me again and again. When I think of you, you are being reborn in me. When I am afraid and faith wells up within me, it is another birth of your son.
Sometimes I need hourly reminders of your presence in the world. I need to be called to faith, to love and to mercy. I need to take the gifts of Christmas and share them with others who don't know Christmas is today. I love my little clock because I love you.
Thank you,
Holy God,
for surprising reminders
of your presence
in the world.
Thank you
for your kindness.
Thank you
for bringing faith
to mind
again and again
and again.
Love, Andrea
