Dear God,
About ten years ago you spoke to me when I stood by our porch window. "There is the opening to the spiritual path." You said. I had no idea there was even going to be a spiritual path. The woods was a massive tangle of tossed debris, cow rose hedges, tall, noxious weeds, invasive trees, and unruly black raspberry bushes. I stepped outside, walked to the entrance and prayed.
For a week now my friend Cindy and I have dug, raked, cleaned, planted and set stones finishing up the secret garden portion of the path. As I stand back now and look, I am overwhelmed by how it looks, feels and graces the sacred space.
Yesterday when I was spreading mulch and pea gravel, I thought how I could never have put the path together. It was too hard, took too much energy, money and time. It was too big a job for one, two or three people. As one friend said, "This is the work of a crew of landscapers." Yet, you invited me to be your partner. You sent Cindy and Susan. You brought Ginny and some women retreatants who all contributed to the rugged work. Together we are making your spiritual path, opened and designed by you, for others who will come and find refuge, hope and peace. I could not, would not have ever tackled it but then it was never for me or about me. It was always about fulfilling your will and what a privilege it has been.
Holy God,
your way
and your will
is always best.
You speak
to us,
give us direction,
pour out
your grace,
bless us
and teach us.
Thank you,
thank you
for entrusting
your path
to us.
Love, Andrea
