Dear God,

Just as the soil can become dry, dusty and lifeless, so can the human soul.  When I lift up a handful of the messy stuff, it seems as if nothing good can possible grow there.  Yet, one nice steady rain can revive it sealing it together making it receptive to good seed.

I can't help thinking of the spiritual life when I work in the dirt.  There are so many parallels.  The soil and the soul are closely related. Together they teach many spiritual lessons.

Holy God,
thank you
for nature,
the woods,
the river,
the hill,
the trees,
the wildflowers
and the
good earth.
Thank you
for making her
a friend,
a spiritual mentor.
Thank you
for life lessons.

Love, Andrea
