Dear God,
What is faith if not a deep, abiding trust in our creator? With this kind of faith, we have to be pliable, able and desirous to bend to the Father's will. We need to find our song, a beautiful version of God's own and we need to sing it. We need to take the light offered and shine it everywhere we go.
So often we are not aware of our own being. We are not in touch with our daily practices. When we are irritable and snap at people, we are not singing our song or shining our light. We are powerful beings made by your own hand. We can brighten another's day or we can drag them down. Right now in our world there is so much darkness. This darkness comes when we fail to love, when we put others down and when we take rather than give. But the light can overcome this darkness if we put our mind to it.
I have to confess that I have spread my own darkness recently. I am angry about our government and our legislators. I am angry about gun violence and our children's fear of going to school. I am angry about institutions that used to have high morals and principles but have become corrupt and self serving. I am angry so many people are being hurt by threats, ugliness and division. I am angry.
O Lord,
please sing
your song
through me.
Rid me
of my
own darkness.
I want
to be
a light.
I want
to sing
your song.
Help me,
I pray.
Love, Andrea
