Dear God,

All around us there are those when suddenly faced with a dire situation will rise to the great occasion of offering his/her life for someone else.  I remember reading about a man in a plane crash who rescued person after person in wintry cold lake water.  He would swim from plane to shore, plane to shore until he quietly slipped under the water to his death.  Family members related later that he was a kind, generous, loving person who would do just what he did.

Right now expert scuba divers are helping trapped Thai children from a deep, dark, dangerous cave.  Although oxygen levels continue to rise and fall and monsoon rains threaten, still they are offering themselves to the service of helpless children.

Through gentle whispers of your spirit, you call us to high levels of mercy, compassion and kindness.  Help us be ready for your call.
