Dear God,

Solitude...quiet before God.  As we allow ourselves to sit quietly before God, as we silence our minds and hearts before the Almighty and as we listen, really listen in the quiet, you speak to us.  Perhaps it is a word, a thought, an insight, an endearment, a vision or a hope.  In those moments we experience holy moments where fear, doubt, confusion, frustration and anxiety are quieted, lessened and sometimes dissolved.  Solitude can lead us to holy places, holy moments and holy lessons.

Each time I listen to the words of St. Therese of Lisieux and St. Francis of Assisi, I realize I am missing golden opportunities for quiet solitude.  As I listen to their stories, reflect on their faith and their aim to live the spiritual life after the life of Christ, I realize how far I am from you.  I want to be quiet.  I want to set myself at your feet.  I want to live the life of solitude.

Holy God,
thank you
for the saints
who show us
the way
to you
through silence.
Guide me,
guide all
of us
to solitude
so we
may meet you
at your
holy dwelling place.
Quiet me,
quiet each
if us
so we
can listen
for your voice.
Bless you,
God of Great Love.

Always, Andrea
