Dear God,
You are always showing us the way home. You pique our awareness when we hear of someone, full of mercy, sharing compassion with a person in need.
Today on the news we watched the story of a woman coming into a diner and seeing a man's shirt that stated his need for a kidney because he was in stage 4 kidney failure. Her heart sped up and she felt compelled to offer her own. After much testing, she was found to be his best match. The surgery was successful. One scene showed the man saying how she had saved her life and then she realized he was the volunteer fireman who had saved her little girl just a few years earlier. Both were teary and hugged.
Such compassion leads us back home to you. We see your hand. We feel your spirit presence. We hear the call to be compassionate people. And we know we have heard yet another story of your loving care in our every day world. Home, one more time.
Loving God,
thank you
for constantly
reminding us
of our need
for home.
We go
to you
for compassion,
love, acceptance,
healing and hope.
There together
we create stories
for others.
Thank you.
Love, Andrea
