Dear God,

There is great sweetness in unexpected surprises!  This morning after bidding my daughter and granddaughter goodbye, I went back to sleep.  Later as I did my morning devotions, my husband brought to me a little white heart my daughter had made with words of endearment and a pair of funny socks.  She had made one for each of us.

It is so wonderful to know we are loved.  There is no better feeling.  Human love is glorious; yet, it is nothing to be compared to your love, Gracious God.  Human love gives us a glimpse of what authentic love really is.  But what it does even more is to inspire and direct us to an even greater love.  As we follow the path of human love and search for meaning, we discover your love waiting for us.  Sometimes surprising us with grace in some sin or imperfection, we recognize this deeper love.  We are blessed beyond conception!

Holy God,
thank you
for my daughter
and her love.
Thank you
for the cue
to search
for love
deeper and wider.
Thank you
for always
being present
at the end
of the search.
