Dear God,
Under the weight of all the snow, St. Francis fell backward onto the sparkling, white snow. He falls every two or three years. I guess there was just two much weight on his back.
He reminds me that we all fall now and then. Too many burdens, worries, hurts, disappointments, and fears cause us to stumble and fall. I believe we are designed to fall because on our backs, we see life from a different perspective. We can't get up by ourselves.
My favorite saint also calls to mind my relationship with you, my God. For a long time ago when in great pain, you invited me to fall backward into your waiting arms. With great fear and trepidation, I did so and as could be expected, you caught me. There I lay for a long time listening to your encouraging, comforting words. Today I know how and when to fall back, moments of hurt and disappointment, too high expectations, fears, failures and doubts. There is no greater blessing to me than those holy, intimate moments with you.
Thank you,
Merciful God,
for the reminder.
Thank you
for St. Francis
who speaks often here.
Thank you
for the call
to let you
help me
rise again.
Love, Andrea
