Dear God,

I started off my prayers this morning in the usual way giving thanks for specific blessings like the warmth of my home, the beautiful fresh-cut decorated Christmas tree, fresh water I was holding in my hand, devotional books I had just read, food in the kitchen to be cooked and so on.  But then, O Lord, I realized these are not the "things" I am most grateful for.  I am grateful to know you and be known by you.  You know my name.  You love me.  You care.  Our relationship is at the top of my list.

Sometimes, O God, we start counting our blessings by giving a list of all we have but that misses the point, doesn't it?  When we are more enamored by life around us rather than life within us, we fail the test of faith and discipleship.  We simply point out the gods that have taken our attention.  Please forgive us; forgive me.

You are all
I want,
Loving God.
You are
my everything.
Hold me close,
I pray.

Love, Andrea
