Dear God,

Whenever something tragic happens in America, you whisper to me the tragedies that have been occurring in other war-torn countries for a long, long time.  You remind me that our tragedies are ours to be sure but we need to remember that suffering and pain is common to many of the world's people. You ask me to pray for them daily because all are your beloved children.

It is so easy to pray for me and mine but me and mine are but a teeny slice of the world's family.  When I practice myopic prayer I set aside other family members who need our prayer and tender care. I forget them as if they are not as precious as my own.

Holy God,
keep me aware
of all
your children.
Keep me
on my knees
in prayer.
Help me
remember all
are my sisters
and brothers.

Love, Andrea
