Dear God,

Our current president urged his supporters to walk to the capitol, to fight with strength the Congress who were charged with receiving and validating the certified ballot results for the next president of the United States.  And so they did by storming the Capitol building, fighting with police, and defiling the hallowed halls of Democracy.

How is it possible that a president would turn on his own people?  The painful realization is in many other troubled nations the same thing is happening.  Leaders who turn on their own people are harming, damaging and destroying all that is good, decent and honest.

We have surely lost our way, O God, when we elect leaders destined to ruin nations and their people.  How can we change?  How can we stop the work of destruction and ruination?  How can we transform ourselves into the very communities of faith and love and peace for all that you want to create in us?  What will make us fall to our knees in sin to pray a change in our hearts?

Loving God,
rid us
of the
black sin
in our
own hearts
before we demand
others do
the same.
Cause us
to repent
of our
own sick ways
before we
judge others.
Help us,
our nation
and our world,
I pray.

Love, Andrea
