Dear God,
As the pastor ended his sermon with an amen, a thought came to me. May the old story become a new story and may the new story become my story.
How many times have I read or heard Mary's story, of Gabriel coming to her to tell her she would become the mother of God? I preached it for over two decades. Sometimes it is difficult to find a new, meaningful way to preach the story. Yet today the preacher did it.
Faith opens the door to old stories and new. As we open our hearts and souls more and more to you, the old story can become new, and the new story can become ours. As we walk the journey of Advent, who would not want to carry inside the old, new, my story?
You are God;
there is none
like you.
As we
walk beside you,
Holy One,
old and new
become one
and the same.
Then miraculously
they can become
our story.
On this
holy morning
of worship,
it did become
my story.
Thank you
for the miracle.
Love, Andrea
