Dear God,

Today Richard Rohr and Henri Nouwen talked about solitude.  As I prayerfully listened to their words, I thought of the ways solitude has taught me.  For me solitude is all about surrender.  When I enter into solitude, I simply let go, surrender and fall into your arms.  It is not about getting anything as much as giving everything.  In offering all of me, I find you.

I give thanks to the Carmelite sisters for introducing me to solitude, contemplation and silence.  Their love, faith and example changed my life.  While terrified stepping into silence alone for the first time, I thought I might die and perhaps I did.  Maybe I died to the way I was to a new way of being, seeing and living.  I will always be grateful to them for their precious gift.

Loving God,
thank you
for the saints
who teach us
about life,
faith, hope,
courage and wisdom.
Thank you especially
for the sisters
of Carmel,
Richard Rohr
and Henri Nouwen.
All praise
to you
for every gift.

Love, Andrea
