Dear God,

How can we possibly pray for our own needs without thinking of the needs of the world?  There is much suffering on every continent.  Who will pray for those whose pain is so great they cannot even pray?

I remember my grandmother praying for the world.  I was only a child but I heard her love come out in her prayers.  After she prayed for each of us grandchildren by name, she prayed for the world's children.  I recall the Carmelite sisters praying not only for their community but the community of the world.  These examples taught me a lesson about prayer, the world and faith.  And now I cannot pray for my own without praying for your own, Lord.

Blessed are you,
God of Love.
You teach us
to love all
and to pray
for all.
Keep the whole
of the
human community
before us,
I pray.

Love, Andrea
