Dear God,

What a beautiful surprise to find you in the early morning sky!  As I walked into the dark study, I looked up and saw the most amazing, radiant star.  Venus is known as the "morning star."  From where we live, its bright rays were stretching outward.  If I had let my imagination go, I would have imagined it reaching out for me.

Why should we be surprised by such exquisite beauty?  At the same time we are.  When your light shines, it is easy to be captured.  The message is your light desires to fill us with light so we too can shine our light in the darkness of people's lives.

Right now our world is dark.  Our nation is dark.  There is darkness in nearly every home.  We are desperate for your light, O Lord!

Keep shining

your light

on us,

Creator God.

Open our eyes

to see it.

Make us open

and ready

to receive it.

Then use us

to shine brightly

in the cosmos

we pray.
