Dear God,
One of your most incredible gifts is the gift of memory, the capacity to call up lived experiences from decades ago. At any time, we can recall memories that uplift, bring hope and joy and give us cause to release all that hurts, enrages and distresses.
I am reading a book about winter. Since winter is my favorite season, I am remembering special events with family and friends like making snow angels, standing under an open sky dropping tiny snowflakes on our tongues and sledding, making snow people and forts and reveling in the beauty of nature's holy season. How I love to reflect upon those times when pure joy filled my soul.
When living life today or returning to decades ago, we will always be able to find light in the midst of dark or gray skies. We can step back in time, feel the cold upon our face and taste snow cookies. Nothing can rob us of hope or warmth or love. Nothing. Tucked into every moment is light even if we can't see it at the moment. No one can take it away from us.
And so, as I am living my best season's offerings, I am giving thanks to the One who creates them all.
Creator God,
no one
gives gifts
like you.
Thank you
for winter
and all
its many offerings.
Thank you
for surprise gifts
tucked away
to be discovered
especially
on dark days.
Love, Andrea
