Dear God,
It is hard to imagine that wildlife can find enough food to eat in the wintertime. Even now I am sitting at my kitchen window watching the birds and squirrels at play in the winter white. What amazes me the most is how the birds can find old, shriveled berries on the trees and the squirrels remember the hidden places where nuts wait to be cracked and eaten. But this is true because you have created them with the ability to find what they need.
Funny how small animals and winged creatures can give us clues about human living. Without speaking a word, they remind us how you have created us and provided ways to "feed" ourselves. Hidden away there is provision for all who are hungry for daily food.
We are all hungry for something...food, connection, relationship, joy, hope and surely love. We starve waiting to be served our daily sustenance but often what we need is tucked away for such a time as this. With spiritual and emotional intuition, we can discover what we need close by. Hope can come through prayer. Joy can be found by gazing at creation just outside our windows. Connection can be made by waving at our neighbor, speaking to the stranger at the grocery store or doing some small act of kindness to someone else. It is true sometimes we need to dig deep to find what we need but it can happen because if it can occur with squirrels and birds, it can happen with and for us.
Loving God,
we forget
all the ways
you have
designed us
to have
what we need
when we need it.
If we pause
to remember
your hand
in our creation,
we can
trust you
to guide us.
Thank you
for the gift
of wildlife
and their messages.
Yours, Andrea
