Dear God,

The world is restless with unwanted chaos, conflict and pain.  Millions are suffering.  It is so easy for many to look the other way but how can we when we know these suffering ones are brothers and sisters, sisters and brothers, family.  Just because they do not carry our last name does not mean we are not connected.  For truly we are one human family living on one common planet.

For 18 years I worshipped every Wednesday morning with the sisters of Carmel, a monastic community of women who pray daily for the world.  Through their loving example, I learned you do not pray just for your own needs, your own family and your own desires.  When we pray, they taught me, you pray for the whole family, those near and far, those known and unknown and those who are filled with love and hate. Without loving prayer, how can we ever truly help the world to know we care?

You are
always teaching us
your way,
O God.
We need
your guidance.
We need
to remember
who we are
and who
they are,
each and
every one
family members.
Draw us together
by your
loving power.

Yours, Andrea
