Dear God,
The season of winter whispers to us, "Come join me. Listen to the winds of my spirit." As a people of spring, summer and fall, we are resistant to say yes. We want to remain in the warmth of seasons filled with blooming flowers, warm days and long strolls in the cool evenings. We want to hold back the cold, the barren and the lifeless. But one day it sneaks in and we are pulled into the white, the beautiful and the mystery of the one season unlike all the others.
The possibilities and potential of winter are not like the rest. If we keep silence, we can hear the call of the spirit. We can sink deeper into the offerings of mystery where treasure lies buried beneath frosty snow and frozen earth. There is so much to hear and experience and discover. As winter creeps in and wraps us up, silence can become a friend, a teacher and even a lover.
Holy God,
thank you
for the
amazing mystery
of winter.
Oh, beloved God,
help us surrender
to this season
and this time.
We desire you
above all else.
We need winter
because we
need you.
Love, Andrea
