Dear God,

Today is the day I take down the outside tiny, white, twinkling Christmas lights. Oohh, how I hate to put them to bed for another year.  I absolutely love those lights.  I strung them around the outside door frames and hung them around the front and back porch.  At night I sit and gaze outdoors watching them twinkle in the dark night.

I love them because twinkling white lights are like faith that shines and then glows brighter as I become aware of God's intimate presence right where I am.  When I find myself in dark, difficult situations, my faith light may still shine but it may be a small, white spot that remains the same.  But, when I suddenly discover Emmanuel, God-with-us, my faith takes on a richer glow.  All during Advent, Christmas and Epiphany, I enjoy and rejoice in yet another example of God's radiant presence in the world.

As I take them down in a few minutes, I will breathe a prayer of thanksgiving and once again we, you and I, will make our way to one another.  Oh, may your Light forever shine in mine.

Thank you,
Blessed God,
for my
tiny white lights.
Thank you
for your presence
that I
always see
within them.
Although I am
taking them down
and storing
them away,
you and I
will remember together
the joyous time
we spent in
one another's company
one more time.

Love, Andrea
