Dear God,
In hard times it is vitally important to celebrate a brand-new day. Each day holds promise, to what we do not know; yet creation's miracle can be seen once again. The ways color spreads across the sky after a pitch-black night is something to behold. Those who believe in One who is deeper and wider, who calls the new day into existence and whispers to the birds to sing and soar know there is always mystery yet to unfold.
A morning sunrise calls us to attention, invites us to watch the total unveiling of colors and murmurs sweet creation hope. If we pause, rise and anticipate this wondrous miracle, then we can dare to believe there are more answers to our dilemmas that we can imagine.
Faith is not about believing, quoting scripture or marching to a set of disciplines; it is a lively intercourse of breathing divine air with the One who designed, created and breathed life into us. It is listening and speaking, hoping and sharing and even catching glimmers of light, attaching to it and spreading light into the dark corners of human life. Faith enables us to see the extraordinary in the ordinary, hope in the most awful of awful and gives us space, time and opportunity to reflect on present circumstances always knowing the story always has more of God in it than we can see, know or experience.
Tomorrow is coming, a new day. I want to be there at the edge with the One who painted it.
Holy God,
thank you
for insights
that open doors
and windows
to hope.
Thank you
for reminders
of what
we already know
about you,
your living presence
and holy love
for every creature.
Remind us
we are
not lost,
just a
few feet away
from all
we know
to be beauty,
love and life.
Yours, Andrea
