Dearest God,
An early morning rush to shop for items for this year's mission auction was fun. Inventory clearances, store closings, and great sales rewarded us with a kayak, Yankee candle stock, Bath and Body baskets, Vera Bradley and more. By day's end I was worn out.
I have to admit getting good bargains was exciting. But more than that I knew what these items could bring the church in terms of bid dollars. I could imagine what we could do to help others. I could envision help for the homeless in downtown Indianapolis and even what we could do to continue our help in West Africa, one of my heart's favorite ministries. I could imagine item after item paving the way for missions work and I was thrilled.
I believe we are in hard times and that there are a lot of hard time people out there. I believe we have a responsibility to help them, to love them with our help. I believe you placed a love for others in my heart a long time ago. I believe our loving care will make a difference.
You, O God,
make the difference.
You lodge love
in our hearts
for others.
You point
the way,
reminding us
to care.
You give us
opportunties to help.
You stretch
our imagination
to see
what we can do
to benefit others.
You allow us
to be partners
in faith.
Thank you,
Lord,
thank you.
Love, Andrea
