Dear God,

The battle for your will is a very real and valuable one.  When I operate from my own center, I will always see from my own view.  I will see the way I want to see.  I will make decisions from my own place in the universe. I will sing my own song.  I will expect, demand others to obey my will and be like me.  I will only focus on my own interests and follow my own feelings, thoughts, and desires.  The gospel will be according to me.

To seek you above all else is the meaning of faith.  To want your will, to live in your love, and to be guided to heights not possible on our own is the substance of a grand life.  When our eyes are opened to your will, a glorious new world appears before our eyes.  We see grandeur, hope, and love extraordinaire!  We see a whole story, not a story fragment.  We are made aware and enlightened in an infinite number of ways. Compassion and mercy are part of your story and peace is your song.  The opportunity for re-creation, renewal, restoration, and reconciliation live in you and you make it possible in us.  You give us the privilege of walking the halls of heaven yet while on earth.  Your gospel is so much more and life is truly wondrous when lived out of your will.

But the battle to do your will exists.  Temptation is great.  We are always given the chance to settle for less when we do our own bidding.  In our hurt, disappointment, and anger we get distracted from the ethereal view of our existence.  In our desires we search for meaning among lesser things.  Life is reduced down and it becomes small.  With your will life is always larger, more meaningful, more filled with joy, hope, and peace, and more open for discovery, revelation, and tools to become more.

There really is no battle for the pure heart.

Great and Holy God,
thank you
for the invitation
to your will.
Thank you
for providing opportunities
to walk
the pilgrim way.
Keep us ever
in your sight
so we
may be enabled
to see you
and follow closely.

Love, Andrea
