Dear God,

Your ways are always better.  As we listen and follow, as we act with faithfulness, we find great delight and joy in every day living.

On my way back from visiting my third daughter and her family, I thought of how you blessed me this week to spend time with each child and their families.  I thought of the ways our love has ebbed and flowed through difficult times, yet, how we have surfaced with new understanding, respect and love for one another.  I realized once again how your faithfulness to us better equips us to move forward in positive and meaningful ways.

Throughout life I have walked my way, decided my way, thought my way, and failed to take into account how your ways are always better.  Soon I discovered my waywardness did not benefit me or others.  I felt shame and sorrow that I opted for my way instead of yours.  This morning I felt only gratitude as I watched the sun rise on another day of opportunity to follow your way.

for your compassion
when we walk
our own walk
and then
stumble back
to you.
Thank you
for your
generous welcome home.
