Dear God,

Preparing to meet you takes willingness, openness, and desire.  When we decide to take a step in your direction, anything can happen as we allow our longing to become action.

Sometimes we choose to neglect you, to ignore your call to come close.  Sometimes we come haphazard wanting to make a quick visit so we can get on to other things perceived to be more important.  Sometimes we come desperate, clinging like frightened children.  Sometimes we come quietly, reverently, expectantly knowing our time together will be rewarding.

You are God of the call.  You call us daily.  You challenge us to retreat with you.  You whisper words of mercy and compassion.  You remind us to remember faith as the step that draws us close to you.  You teach us to nurture the spiritual life.  You call us by name. 

Loving God,
help us
answer your call.
Guide us
to live life
poised, ready
to greet
and meet you.
Show us
how to
prepare ourselves
like a bride
for her groom.
Move us
to action,
Great God,
so we
will not miss
one moment
with you.
