Dearest God,

This morning as I lay in bed praying, you came to me through your Word.  "Now we see in a mirror darkly but then face to face."  Through prayer we see you face to face.  We breathe in  the air of mercy and our hearts stir by grace.  What is darkness to us is light to you.  As we pray you help us see what we cannot ordinarily see as we hide in shadows of doubt or fear.

We simply cannot do the impossible alone but through faith we can rise above the dark clouds to see the bright, shining sun.  We can feel the warmth of compassion filling us from head to toe.  As we dare to raise our face to the light, your hand reaches out and touches our wounds.  The act itself heals our inner wounds allowing us to enter your glory where we find hope waiting for us.  It is then we are able to climb the dark mountain to the light of faith.

As my husband tossed and turned in worry and sadness, in the dark of the morning I shared the wondrous insight hoping he might see the light and turn to you for comfort.  As I stepped out of the room to read the blessed story of your birth, I found my own refuge, the gift of your awesome spirit.

Turn our eyes
to you,
Holy One;
show us
the way
to heaven.
Speak to
our heavy hearts.
Lead us
to the light.
Thank you
for your
constant mercy
that sees
our wounds
even before
we acknowledge them.
You are worthy
of our praise.

Love, Andrea
