Dear God,
It rained all day, dark clouds hanging low. Although it looked dreary, I watched as the grass turned green and the flowers perked up. What appeared gray and dismal was really sweet to the thirsty.
We have really needed rain. It has been weeks without any real precipitation. From all appearances the rain did its work blessing all it touched.
Sometimes we too are dry, parched from a life without living water. We are thirsty but we forget to drink from your well. We fail to drink that which will give us life. We walk around lifeless, hunched over, perplexed, frustrated, and empty. We forget how close your pool, your fountain really is. But when we remember, when we lean down, pick up the ladle, and drink, what refreshment comes to our soul. We come to life. We feel alive. Like the psalmist you restore our soul.
When we know something is sooooo good, why don't we drink?
Heavenly Father,
forgive us
for staying dry.
Forgive us
for failing
to drink.
Forgive us
of not turning
to you.
Restore us,
O Lord,
for you
are the
only one
who can.
Love always, Andrea
