Dear God,
True peace resides in you, Holy God. Your kind of peace quiets the mind, calms the heart, and comforts the soul. When we trust utterly in you, we enter into the silence of faith.
When we let the news reports dictate our well being, we fall prey to fear, anxiety, and irritability. We live our lives in the shadow of what may befall us. We assume the worst.
Perhaps the most comforting words of Jesus are "I will be with you to the end of the age." Such knowledge keeps us centered realizing the news commentators only know part of the story. They don't report how we can rest in God's care even in the midst of the worst circumstances. Dark times call for greater light. If we light bearers keep our light under a bushel then we rob the fearful of light for their path. Even if we all only have a little light, together we will show forth a great light. Isn't that what we need, O Lord, a heavenly illumination?
Light of the World,
thank you
for shining
your light
upon us.
Like the star
of Bethlehem
our eyes
are drawn upward
lifting our hearts too.
Help us
radiate your light
to the world,
I pray.
Love, Andrea
