Dear God,

You made us one family, brothers and sisters.  Although our skin is beautifully colored, we come from different countries, backgrounds, economic status, religious preference, gender, and so many other uniquely created situations.  Yet, we are one family.

How can we feel good about ourselves when we put down one of our sisters or brothers?  How can we sleep at night knowing others are being marginalized, put down, mocked, threatened or abused by others on the planet, particularly people of power?  How can we stand for such evil behavior?

Daily we need to check ourselves to be sure we do not join the numbers of people who take free license to hurt, damage and destroy others.  When we do, we must make things right.  We must apologize and affirm our relationship to those around us near and far.  We also must hold others to the same standard you hold for us to love one another.

Lord, we all have clay feet.  You have made us with those feet so we fall into temptation.  Forgive us when we err, make mistakes and way too many times hurt others.  Show us the way to make us one family where all are loved by you and one another.

We confess
our sin,
O Lord.
We often fail.
While you
reach out
to us,
help us
reach out
to others.

Love, Andrea
