Dear God,

You are all powerful, O God.  You show us that power by changing us, transforming us.  You take us as we are, resistant, complaining, and stubborn and you shine your light on us.  Your light warms us, melts our cold, cold hearts, and gives us the ability to breathe again.  You anoint us with your mercy and show us the way to a new life.

I have watched my granddaughter reconstruct herself.  She lived in darkness.  She was angry and blamed others for her misdeeds and mistakes.  She made decisions that kept her in the dark.  She was afraid.  Yet, one day she saw the light and somehow she liked it.  She had seen it before but perhaps never like this.  She reached out to hope and hope overtook her.  Bit by bit she shook off the past and let go of everything that kept her down.  She began to smile, to laugh and to live.  Still does.

Holy Father,
thank you
for your
loving power.
Thank you
for transformation
that gives us
new opportunities
for a
real life.
Thank you
for your compassion
that sees
through our darkness
and makes
the blind
to see again.
