Dear God,
"Our father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name..." Such words come to me as I lie back strapped in a seat rising into the sky on an airplane headed for Florida. I don't like flying because I am uneasy, afraid really because I have to trust the people flying the plane. If I want to travel, I have to trust the pilot.
The same is true of every day life, O Lord. I have to trust you if I want to live a life of faith. If I want to overcome pain or sorrow, if I want to heal and be restored, if I want to be challenged, to transform and rise to follow your will, I have to trust you with my life.
Praying the Lord's prayer is not just muttering a few sacred words, it is praying my trust in you and accepting your prominent place in life. It is acknowledging your place in the cosmos and giving praise to you. It is stepping to your side, taking your outstretched hand, and speaking with my daddy.
O Lord,
thank you
for the
blessed relationship
you have
with us.
Thank you
for your
holy work
in our lives.
Thank you
for teaching us
to trust you
in all things.
Love, Andrea
